(a)
- (1) Each student in the specified grades shall participate in the assessments according to the procedures established by the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- (2) A student shall participate in the Arkansas Alternate Assessment Program only upon the formal determination of the student’s IEP team, as documented in the student’s IEP.
(b)
- (1) The IEP team shall determine whether participation in the standard state assessment program is appropriate for students with IEPs.
- (2) Students with the most significant cognitive disabilities who cannot participate in the standard state assessments with the established accommodations and accessibility features shall participate in the Arkansas Alternate Assessment Program following the guidelines established by the division.
(c)
(1) Students with disabilities may access state-approved accommodations provided such accommodations:
- (A) Have been determined necessary by the IEP team; and
- (B) Are used regularly in classroom instruction and assessment.
- (2) Only accommodations that do not interfere with the validity of the test may be used on the assessment.
(d) A student who participates in the Arkansas Alternate Assessment Program will take each of the required alternate assessments including:
- (1) English language arts;
- (2) Mathematics; and
- (3) Science.
