27 CAR § 132-1002 – Standard signs

(a) Sign information shall be limited to:
1. (1) The name of the municipality;
2. (2) The words “Welcome To”; and
3. (3)
  1. (A) If applicable, a pictograph approved by the Arkansas Department of Transportation.
  2. (B) If used, the pictograph height shall not exceed two (2) times the uppercase letters of the principal legend on the sign.
(b) All signs shall be:
1. (1) Crashworthy as defined in the MUTCD if located in the clear zone, as defined in the AASHTO Roadside Design Guide; or
2. (2) Located entirely outside of the clear zone.
(c) Signs shall have a white legend on a green rectangular background.
(d) Signs shall:
1. (1) Be retroreflectorized; and
2. (2) Conform to MUTCD standards and specifications for guide signs and general information signs.
(e) The maximum sign size to be no larger than forty-eight inches by thirty inches (48" x 30").
(f) The principal legend should be a minimum of six inches (6”) in height.
(g) The sign should be placed so the bottom of the sign is a minimum of seven feet (7') above the driving surface.
(h) No additional signs may be added or attached to the sign or post.
