- (a) The Arkansas Department of Transportation shall have the discretion to issue a permit for the movement of super loads of extraordinary weight (gross weight of one hundred eighty thousand pounds (180,000 lbs.) or more) or extraordinary dimension (width of more than sixteen feet six inches (16' 6"), overall length of one hundred feet (100') or more, or height of fifteen feet six inches (15' 6") or more) that are essential to public health, welfare, safety, or defense.
- (b) The department shall have the discretion to require engineering examinations and an application shall be submitted far enough in advance to allow for such examinations.
