The documentation related to the safety analysis in the IJR should provide sufficient information for an independent review and usually contains the following:

1. (1) The safety analysis of existing conditions as related to the purpose and need, which includes:

   1. (A) A description of the performance measures;
   2. (B) The crash data used in the safety analysis;
   3. (C) The type of safety analysis; and
   4. (D) The results of the safety analysis; and

2. (2) The safety issues and considerations in the alternatives analysis, which includes:

   1. (A) Identification of any potential significant safety issues or considerations; and
   2. (B) Documentation of any design exceptions.
