(a)
- (1) No utility work shall be performed in the median of any highway without prior approval of the Arkansas Department of Transportation.
- (2) All work must be accomplished in accordance with any special conditions required by the District Engineer.
- (b) Longitudinal utility installations will not be allowed in medians.
(c)
- (1) Longitudinal installations of underground utilities will not normally be allowed in the area between the frontage road and main lanes.
- (2) Exceptions may be considered upon recommendation of the District Engineer based on extenuating circumstances and where a frontage road is widely separated from the main lanes, provided there is sufficient clear zone width from the edges of both traveled ways.
(d)
- (1) Poles, guys, or other related facilities shall not be located in a highway median or between the main lanes and frontage roads.
- (2) Exceptions may be considered upon the recommendation of the District Engineer for crossings of wide medians and where a frontage road is widely separated from the main lanes, provided there is sufficient clear zone width from the edges of both traveled ways.
