- (a) Policies may be waived on a case-by-case basis depending on the individual’s needs and circumstances.
- (b) The Division of State Services for the Blind recognizes that occasionally medical emergencies or other circumstances beyond the consumer’s control occur preventing the consumer from completing an activity within allotted timeframes or causing a need for additional services.
- (c) In these situations, the consumer may request an exemption to policy limits.
(d) Depending on the policy affected, a VR counselor, area manager, or Field Administrator would review the situation and determine:
- (1) If reasonable extenuating circumstances existed; and
- (2) Whether an exemption to policy limitations should be approved.
- (e) Any exception made to policy must be documented as such in the case record of the individual, and the documentation must include justification on why the exception was made.
