1. (a) Every authorization created by the Division of State Services for the Blind must be accompanied by an authorization justification.
2. (b) This justification should be written by the VR counselor and provided to the Rehab Assistant (RA) who will be creating the authorization by email.
3. (c) Once the RA has created the authorization, the justification narrative must be entered into an AWARE case note containing the authorization number.

4. (d) The justification must include:

   1. (1) Why the specific service is being authorized; and
   2. (2) How it will contribute to the consumer successfully completing their IPE goal.

Codification Notes: “IPE” means individualized plan for elders. "VR" means vocational rehabilitation.
