1. (a) In accordance with Acts 1995, Nos. 398 and 1292, when the majority of employees of an entity covered by these acts elect to participate in the Arkansas Public Employees’ Retirement System, the governing body of such entity shall certify such vote to the Executive Director of the Arkansas Public Employees’ Retirement System within ten (10) days after the vote by the employees.
2. (b) The effective date of coverage shall be either the first day of the calendar month next following receipt by the executive director of the election or the July 1 next following the receipt, as determined by the vote.
