- (a) EGSs shall be capable of detecting and displaying the following error conditions and illuminate the tower light for each or sound an audible alarm, unless otherwise noted.
(b) They shall be cleared either by an attendant (denoted by ‘*’ – in these cases the EGS must cease play) or upon initiation of a new play sequence and be communicated to an on-line monitoring system:
- (1) Loss of communication with the central monitoring system;
- (2) RAM error*;
- (3) Low RAM battery, for batteries external to the RAM itself or low power source;
- (4) Currency-in jam*;
- (5) Program error or authentication mismatch*;
- (6) Door open (including bill acceptor)*;
(7) Reel spin errors (if applicable), including a mis-index condition for rotating reels that affects the outcome of the game*:
- (A) The specific reel number shall be identified in the error code;
- (B) In the final positioning of the reel, if the position error exceeds one-half (1/2) of the width of the smallest symbol excluding blanks on the reel strip; and
- (C) Microprocessor-controlled reels shall be monitored to detect malfunctions such as a reel which is jammed, or is not spinning freely, or any attempt to manipulate their final resting position;
- (8) Power reset;
- (9) Out-of-paper* or paper low;
- (10) Printer jam*;
- (11) Printer failure*; and
- (12) Printer disconnected* (it is permissible for the EGS to detect this error condition when the game tries to print).
(c)
- (1) For games that use error codes, a description of EGS error codes and their meanings shall be affixed inside the EGS.
- (2) This does not apply to video-based games.
- (3) However, video-based games shall display meaningful text as to the error conditions.
