If the game has mechanical or electro-mechanical devices, which are used for displaying game outcomes, the following rules shall be observed:
(1)
- (A) Electro-mechanically controlled display devices (e.g., reels or wheels) shall have a sufficiently closed loop of control so as to enable the software to detect a malfunction, or an attempt to interfere with the correct operation of that device.
- (B) This requirement is designed to ensure that if a reel or wheel is not in the position it is supposed to be in, an error condition will be generated;
- (2) Mechanical assemblies (e.g., reels or wheels) shall have some mechanism that ensures the correct mounting of the assembly’s artwork, if applicable;
- (3) Displays shall be constructed in such a way that winning symbol combinations match up with pay lines or other indicators; and
- (4) A mechanical assembly shall be so designed that it is not obstructed by any other components.
