1. (a) Pets or other animals brought into state parks will be appropriately leashed, caged, or otherwise restrained so as to be under the direct physical (not verbal) control of the owner.
2. (b) Pets or animals other than service animals for individuals with disabilities will not be permitted in public buildings or at swimming beaches or pools at any time.

3. (c)

   1. (1) Pets or animals shall not be left unattended by the owner to such an extent as to result in cruelty to the pet or animal.
   2. (2) Pets or animals disturbing other guests will be removed to a remote area or the owner will be requested to leave the park without refund of any unused fee or charge.

4. (d)

   1. (1) Local owners of dogs, cats, or other animals running loose will be requested to remove these animals from park lands.
   2. (2) If results are not satisfactory, such animals will be tied or caged and owner notified.
5. (e) Stray or abandoned pets or animals will be turned over to the humane society or, if possible, a home found for them.

6. (f)

   1. (1) The only time a dog will be shot is if it:

      1. (A) Is running wild;
      2. (B) Has bitten someone; and
      3. (C) Is suspected of being rabid.
   2. (2) Health officers will be notified immediately.
   3. (3) If such action is required, the animal should not be shot in the head in order that the head may be turned over to health authorities for testing.
7. (g) These rules apply equally to state park employees insofar as they apply to the control of pets or other animals.
