The purpose of this part is to regulate persons engaged in the business of selling, installing, and servicing portable fire extinguishers or fixed fire protection systems and to provide for the registration and licensure of businesses and persons providing these services, in order to protect and promote public safety by minimizing personal injury and property damages which might result from inadequate, unreliable, unsafe, or improperly installed or maintained portable fire extinguishers and fixed fire protection systems.
