The air monitor training course shall adequately address the following topics:

1. (1) Generally, types of air monitoring:

   1. (A) Personal air monitoring;
   2. (B) Area air monitoring;
   3. (C) Preclearance air monitoring; and
   4. (D) Clearance air monitoring;
2. (2) Purpose and intent of clearance air monitoring;
3. (3) How to conduct clearance air monitoring;
4. (4) How to conduct aggressive sampling;
5. (5) Calibration of instruments;
6. (6) Selection of appropriate equipment and media;
7. (7) Sample placement;
8. (8) Calculations, chain of custody, preparation of reports, and sample labeling;
9. (9) General discussion of laboratories;
10. (10) Health considerations including decontaminating the equipment and the person performing the air monitoring;

11. (11) Hands-on demonstration of the following:

    1. (A) Calculations;
    2. (B) Calibration of instruments;
    3. (C) Placement of air monitors;
    4. (D) Aggressive air monitoring;
    5. (E) Decontamination procedures; and
    6. (F) Labeling; and
12. (12) Course overview.
