- (a) The home shall have an adequate supply of water that meets Department of Health standards for drinking water.
- (b) Water shall always be available to the children.
(c) The facility shall follow any health or medical care plans or medical documentation as provided by the child’s:
- (1) Physician;
- (2) Parent; or
- (3) Guardian.
- (d) Garbage shall be kept in a closed container out of children’s reach.
(e) All garbage, soiled diapers, and trash shall be removed from the:
- (1) Home daily; and
- (2) Grounds at least once a week.
- (f) The home shall be free of insects and rodents.
(g)
- (1) Water, sewage disposal, and toilet facilities shall be safe and sanitary.
- (2) The department may be consulted for its recommendation.
(h)
- (1) Childcare family homes shall comply with the Arkansas Clean Indoor Air Act of 2006, Arkansas Code § 20-27-1801 et seq.
- (2) Smoking, including e-cigarettes, in a childcare family home is prohibited at all times.
(3) This includes:
- (A)
(i) All areas of the home, regardless of whether children are in care.
(ii) This includes time periods such as nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
- (iii) Also includes office areas or other areas of the facility that share the same ventilation systems;
- (B) Outdoor play area;
- (C) Other outdoor areas when children are present on those areas; and
(D) In any vehicle used to transport children, whether children are present in the vehicle or not.
- (i)
- (1) First-aid materials are required and shall be kept out of reach of children.
- (2) A first-aid kit containing medications shall be locked.
(3) The first-aid materials shall include:
- (A) Adhesive Band-Aids, various sizes;
- (B) Scissors;
- (C) Sterile gauze squares;
- (D) Roll of gauze bandages;
- (E) Adhesive tape;
- (F) Antiseptic;
- (G) Thermometer;
- (H) Tweezers; and
- (I) Disposable gloves.
- (j) There shall be no adult in the home who poses a health risk to children in care.
(k) It is recommended that staff who have direct contact with children receive annual influenza (flu) immunizations.
(l) It is recommended that staff who have direct contact with children receive a one-time Tdap (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis) immunization.
- (m) It is recommended that staff who have direct contact with children be required to have:
(1) The recommended series of immunizations for:
- (A) Chicken pox;
- (B) Mumps;
- (C) Measles; and
- (D) Rubella; or
- (2) Evidence of immunity.
