20 CAR § 503-103 – Focus — Time-limited nature of program

(a) In conjunction with an individualized approach, focus must be placed on the time-limited nature of the program.
(b)
1. (1) Most participants will have a maximum of twelve (12) months to attain some level of self-sufficiency before cash assistance is terminated.
2. (2)
  1. (A) Some participants may have less than twelve (12) months to attain self-sufficiency depending upon past periods of transitional employment assistance (TEA) receipt.
  2. (B) Therefore, it is critical that the Program Eligibility Specialist and participant make decisions that consider where the family is in terms of the time limit.
3. (3) For example, if a family has only two (2) or three (3) months remaining before the time limit expires, job search or subsidized employment would probably be a more appropriate activity than career and technical education.
