(a)
- (1) Nursing supplies and equipment shall be provided as indicated to meet the needs of the residents.
(2) As a minimum, the following shall be maintained:
- (A) Items for personal care and grooming;
- (B) Individual soap dishes;
- (C) Hypodermic syringes and needles;
- (D) One (1) oxygen unit;
- (E) Forceps and forceps jars;
- (F) Enema equipment;
- (G) Hot water bottles and ice caps with covers;
- (H) Suction machines;
- (I) Weight scales;
- (J) Flashlight at each station;
- (K) Thermometers;
- (L) Gloves, nonsterile and sterile;
- (M) A stretcher;
- (N) First aid equipment and supplies; and
- (O) Blood pressure equipment.
(b)
- (1) Thermometers shall be disinfected by a suitable method as approved by the Office of Long-Term Care.
- (2) A suitable method is to clean the thermometer thoroughly with soap and water and place in solution of iodine one percent (1%) and isopropyl alcohol for at least ten (10) minutes, rinse thoroughly with cold water before use.
- (3) Any other method approved by the office may be used.
