(a)

1. (1) Nursing supplies and equipment shall be provided as indicated to meet the needs of the residents.

2. (2) As a minimum, the following shall be maintained:

   1. (A) Items for personal care and grooming;
   2. (B) Individual soap dishes;
   3. (C) Hypodermic syringes and needles;
   4. (D) One (1) oxygen unit;
   5. (E) Forceps and forceps jars;
   6. (F) Enema equipment;
   7. (G) Hot water bottles and ice caps with covers;
   8. (H) Suction machines;
   9. (I) Weight scales;
   10. (J) Flashlight at each station;
   11. (K) Thermometers;
   12. (L) Gloves, nonsterile and sterile;
   13. (M) A stretcher;
   14. (N) First aid equipment and supplies; and
   15. (O) Blood pressure equipment.

(b)

1. (1) Thermometers shall be disinfected by a suitable method as approved by the Office of Long-Term Care.
2. (2) A suitable method is to clean the thermometer thoroughly with soap and water and place in solution of iodine one percent (1%) and isopropyl alcohol for at least ten (10) minutes, rinse thoroughly with cold water before use.
3. (3) Any other method approved by the office may be used.
