(a)
(1) The hot water heating and storage equipment shall have sufficient capacity to supply:
- (A) Six and one-half gallons (6 ½ gals.) of water at one hundred ten degrees Fahrenheit (110˚ F) (forty-three degrees Celsius (43˚ C)) per hour per bed for institution fixtures;
- (B) Five gallons (5 gals.) at one hundred eighty degrees Fahrenheit (180˚ F) (eighty-two degrees Celsius (82˚ C)) per hour per bed for the laundry; and
- (C) Four gallons (4 gals.) at one hundred eighty degrees Fahrenheit (180˚ F) (eighty-two degrees Celsius (82˚ C)) per hour per bed for the kitchen.
- (2) The water temperature in patient areas shall not exceed one hundred ten degrees Fahrenheit (110˚ F) (forty-three degrees Celsius (43˚ C)).
- (b) The hot water storage tank, or tanks, shall have a capacity equal to fifty percent (50%) of heater capacity.
- (c) Tanks and heaters shall be fitted with pressure temperature relief valves.
- (d) Temperatures of hot water at plumbing fixtures used by resident shall be automatically regulated by control valves.
- (e) All gas, oil, or coal heaters shall be properly vented to the outside.
