20 CAR § 414-405 – Infection control

(a) Written policies and procedures shall be established for investigating, controlling, and preventing infections.
(b) Procedures shall be reviewed annually and revised as necessary for effectiveness and improvement.
(c) The policies and procedures shall include as a minimum:
1. (1) Aseptic and isolation techniques;
2. (2) Proper disposal techniques for infected dressing, disposable syringes, needles, etc.;
3. (3) Prohibiting the use of the common:
  1. (A) Towel;
  2. (B) Bath and hand soap; and
  3. (C) Drinking cup or glass; and
4. (4) Proper reporting of communicable disease.
