Standard — Client rooms, bath, and toilet facilities
Arkansas Code § 20-10-203
(a)
- (1) Each client's room shall have an openable window not less than one-sixteenth (1/16) of the floor space or outside door arranged and located so that it can be opened.
- (2) The window shall be located on an exterior wall so that the clients have a reasonable outside view.
- (b) Standard client rooms shall not have more than two (2) beds.
(c)
- (1) Single standard client rooms shall measure at least one hundred square feet (100 sq. ft.).
- (2) Multi-client rooms shall provide a minimum of eighty square feet (80 sq. ft.) per bed.
- (3) Square footage requirements shall be exclusive of closet and storage facilities.
(4) Client beds shall be placed at least three feet (3’) apart from each other and so located as to:
- (A) Avoid contamination (respiratory droplets), drafts, excessive heat, or other discomfort to clients; and
- (B) Provide adequate room for nursing procedures and to minimize the transmission of disease.
(d)
- (1) Each client room shall be adjacent to or near adequate toilet and bathing facilities.
- (2) Separate toilet facilities and bathing units shall be provided for each four (4) beds.
(3) Individual privacy will be provided in:
- (A) Toilets;
- (B) Bathtubs; and
- (C) Showers.
- (4) Toilets shall be equipped with hand-washing facilities and toilet paper hangers.
- (e) Each client shall have a room with an exterior wall with a window not less than one-sixteenth (1/16) of the floor space and direct access to a corridor or day room or dining room with an exterior door.
- (f) Client bedrooms may not be below grade level.
- (g) Storage space in the client room shall include space for equipment for daily out-of-bed activity for all clients who are not yet mobile, except those who have a short-term illness or those few clients for whom out-of-bed activity is a threat to health and safety.
(h)
- (1) Built in closets, with clothes racks and shelves accessible to the client, shall be provided in each client room for storage of clothing and other possessions.
(2) The closet and other suitable storage space shall be accessible to clients, and shall be adequate for storage of personal possessions, such as:
- (A) TVs;
- (B) Radios;
- (C) Prosthetic equipment; and
- (D) Clothing.
- (i) Each client shall be provided with a suitable fixed or moveable light or lamp equipped with a noncombustible shade to prevent direct glare for reading or other purpose, and capable of being switched off by the client.
