(a) The facility must develop and implement detailed written plans and procedures to meet all potential emergencies and disasters such as:
- (1) Fire;
- (2) Severe weather; and
- (3) Missing clients.
(b) The facility must:
- (1) Communicate with the staff;
- (2) Quarterly review the plan with staff;
- (3) Make the plan available to the staff; and
- (4) Provide training to the staff.
(c) The facility must hold evacuation drills at least quarterly for each shift of personnel and under varied conditions to:
- (1) Ensure that all personnel on all shifts are trained to perform assigned tasks;
- (2) Ensure that all personnel an all shifts are familiar with the use of the facility's fire protection features; and
- (3) Evaluate the effectiveness of emergency and disaster plans and procedures.
(d) The facility must:
- (1) Actually evacuate clients during at least one (1) drill each year on each shift;
- (2) Make special provisions for the evacuation of clients with physical disabilities;
- (3) File a report and evaluation on each evacuation drill;
- (4) Investigate all problems with evacuation drills, including accidents, and take corrective action; and
- (5) During fire drills, clients may be evacuated to a safe area in facilities certified under the Health Care Occupancies Chapter of the Life Safety Code.
- (e) Facilities must meet the requirements of subsections (c) and (d) of this section for any live-in and relief staff they utilize.
