(a) Nursing equipment and supplies shall be:

1. (1) Provided to meet the patients' needs; and
2. (2) Maintained in good condition to ensure adequate nursing care of the patients.

(b)

1. (1) In nursing homes licensed as intermediate care facilities, the following equipment and supplies shall be provided:

   1. (A) *Individual soap dishes;
   2. (B) *Mouthwash cups;
   3. (C) *Drinking glasses or cups;
   4. (D) *Items for personal care and grooming;
   5. (E) *Denture cups;
   6. (F) *Wash basins;
   7. (G) *Emesis basins;
   8. (H) *Bedpans;
   9. (I) *Bedpan covers;
   10. (J) *Urinals;
   11. (K) Hypodermic syringes and needles;
   12. (L) Insulin syringes and needles;
   13. (M) Forceps and forceps jars;
   14. (N) Rubber and plastic sheeting;
   15. (O) Hot water bottles and ice caps with covers;
   16. (P) Grab bars in all bathtub, shower, and toilet areas;
   17. (Q) Catheter trays and cover;
   18. (R) Irrigation stands or rods;
   19. (S) Suction machine for each thirty-five (35) patients or a major fraction thereof;
   20. (T) Occupational therapy equipment according to patient needs;
   21. (U) Adjustable crutches, canes, and walkers for fifteen percent (15%) of licensed capacity;
   22. (V) One (1) oxygen unit;
   23. (W) Enema equipment;
   24. (X) Rubber rings;
   25. (Y) Flashlights;
   26. (Z) Examination lights;
   27. (AA) Gloves;

   28. (BB) Footboards;

       1. (CC) Bed rails;
       2. (DD) Commode chairs;
   29. (EE) Weight scales;
   30. (FF) Thermometers;
   31. (GG) Bedpan brushes and containers;

   32. (HH) Sphygmomanometer;

       1. (II) A bed cover cradle;
   33. (JJ) Stethoscope;

   34. (KK) First aid equipment and supplies;

       1. (LL) Heating pads (waterproof type);
       2. (MM) An emergency medical kit;
   35. (NN) A stretcher (collapsible stretcher recommended);
   36. (OO) Trapeze frames for five percent (5%) of licensed capacity;
   37. (PP) Wheelchairs for ten percent (10%) of licensed capacity; and
   38. (QQ) Dressing cart or tray with sterile supplies.
2. (2) Note. *These items shall be assigned to individual patients, kept clean, and maintained or stored at patient's bedside cabinet.

(c) In nursing homes licensed as skilled nursing facilities, the following equipment and supplies shall be provided in addition to the equipment and supplies necessary for facilities licensed as intermediate care facilities:

1. (1) Additional trapeze frames as needed;
2. (2) Oxygen unit (total of two (2) units required);
3. (3) Sterile I.V. equipment;
4. (4) Tube feeding tray for each thirty-five (35) skilled care patients or major fraction thereof;
5. (5) One (1) patient lift for each thirty-five (35) skilled care patients or major fraction thereof;
6. (6) Wheelchairs for fifteen percent (15%) of licensed capacity;
7. (7) Sphygmomanometer (total of two (2) required); and
8. (8) Stethoscope (total of two (2) required).
