20 CAR § 172-120 – Requirements of raw-frozen breast milk distribution

(a) Each pool of breast milk has a sample taken for bacteriologic screening using sterile technique.
(b)
1. (1) Only breast milk from pools with equal to or less than ten to the fourth power colony forming units per milliliter (10⁴ CFU/ml) of normal skin flora, e.g., coagulase negative Staphylococcus, diphtheroids, Staphylococcus epidermidis, or Streptococcus viridians, is acceptable to dispense raw.
2. (2) The presence of any pathogens is unacceptable.
