- (a) Each pool of breast milk has a sample taken for bacteriologic screening using sterile technique.
(b)
- (1) Only breast milk from pools with equal to or less than ten to the fourth power colony forming units per milliliter (104 CFU/ml) of normal skin flora, e.g., coagulase negative Staphylococcus, diphtheroids, Staphylococcus epidermidis, or Streptococcus viridians, is acceptable to dispense raw.
- (2) The presence of any pathogens is unacceptable.
