Defrosting and pooling
Arkansas Code § 20-7-140
(a)
(1) Breast milk is generally thawed in refrigerators in a manner that prevents the breast milk from becoming adulterated or contaminated.
(2) Final thawing may occur outside of the refrigerator as long as temperature expectations are met.
(3) Breast milk should be maintained at forty-five degrees Fahrenheit (45°F) or seven and two-tenths degrees Celsius (7.2°C) or below, both while in the refrigerator and out.
(4) Breast milk taken from refrigerators for pouring is:
(A) Kept out of direct sunlight and at least six feet (6’) from any heat source; and
(B) Refrigerated after pouring.
(5) If a water bath is used for thawing, the lids of all containers are kept above the water line.
(6) Breast milk should be maintained at forty-five degrees Fahrenheit (45°F) or seven and two-tenths degrees Celsius (7.2°C) or below, both while in the refrigerator and out.
(b) Pooling of fresh-raw or defrosted fresh-frozen breast milk is conducted under clean conditions.
