(a) General.
- (1) All Class A pools and spas open to the general public shall provide adequate bather preparation facilities.
- (2) Whenever any pool other than Class A pools are opened to the general public, a minimum of one (1) restroom and shower facility for each gender shall be provided.
- (3) Pools not open to the general public shall provide bather preparation facilities whenever suitable facilities are not available within a reasonable distance of the pool.
- (4) In these instances the Department of Health shall determine reasonable distance.
- (5) Lavatories, showers, and water closets shall be provided for each gender based on the maximum bather load as listed below or as required by the current Arkansas State Plumbing Code, whichever is most stringent.
- (6) Certain pools having a high rate of swimmer change out, such as a school’s pool used for classes, may be required to provide additional facilities.

(b) Dressing rooms.
- (1) A dressing room shall be provided for each gender.
(2) The dressing rooms shall be satisfactorily:
- (A) Located;
- (B) Constructed;
- (C) Equipped;
- (D) Lighted; and
- (E) Ventilated.
- (3) Floor finish shall be nonskid cement, tile, or other impervious material.
- (4) Indoor-outdoor carpet is not approved.
- (5) Nonskid mats may be installed but shall be removable for cleaning.
- (6) Walls and partitions shall be constructed of smooth, impervious material.
(c) Light and ventilation.
- (1) All bather preparation areas shall be adequately ventilated and lighted.
- (2) A minimum of one watt (1 W) of light for each square foot of floor area is recommended.
(d) Hot and cold running water shall be provided.
- (1) Dispensers for providing either liquid or powdered soap shall be provided for lavatories and showers.
- (2) Adequate hand drying facilities, either single service paper towels or blower type hand dryers, must be provided.
- (e) Maintenance. All bather preparation facilities shall be maintained in a clean condition and in good repair.
