(a) Access to equipment.
- (1) The equipment room shall be evaluated during the plan review process to determine if adequate space is provided for equipment to be serviced.
- (2) Filters and other equipment shall be easily accessible for service.
- (3) Equipment shall be safeguarded to prevent unauthorized tampering.
- (4) The equipment room shall be adequately drained and ventilated.
- (5) The room or rooms and equipment shall be maintained clean and in good repair.
- (b) Gas chlorine storage. Where gas chlorine is used on existing facilities, the chlorine room shall meet the minimum standards as described in 20 CAR § 136-111(g)(7).
(c) Ventilation for equipment rooms.
(1)
- (A) Where the equipment room is provided below grade, stairway access and suitable drainage shall be provided.
- (B) Enclosed stairways shall have louvered vents on three (3) sides of the room and an exhaust fan.
(2)
- (A) All other equipment and chemical storage rooms shall be ventilated through a louvered door and an opening, louvered vent on at least one (1) other side.
- (B) In order to achieve adequate ventilation, an exhaust fan may be necessary.
- (C) Chemical rooms must be vented away from the walk area.
(d) Chemical storage.
- (1) Adequate space shall be provided for off-floor storage of chemicals, separate from the operating equipment.
- (2) In rooms or areas with fixed ceilings, the minimum height shall be six and five-tenths feet (6.5’).
- (e) Lighting. All equipment and chemical storage rooms shall be equipped with at least one watt (1 W) of artificial light per square foot of floor area with a minimum of one hundred watts (100 W) provided.
