1. (a) Lighting.

   1. (1) Approaches to buildings and parking lots and all occupied spaces within buildings shall have fixtures that can be illuminated as necessary.
   2. (2) Patient rooms shall have general lighting and night lighting.
   3. (3) Nursing unit corridors shall have general illumination with provisions for reducing light levels at night.
   4. (4) Egress and exit lighting shall comply with NFPA 101.

2. (b) Nurse/patient communication station.

   1. (1) A nurse/patient communication system shall be provided for each patient bedside in accordance with the functional program.

   2. (2) An emergency call system shall be provided in each patient’s:

      1. (A) Toilet;
      2. (B) Bath; and
      3. (C) Shower room.
3. (c) Emergency electrical generators shall have a minimum forty-eight (48) hours of onsite fuel.
4. (d) All healthcare occupancies shall be provided with a fire alarm system in accordance with NFPA 101 and NFPA 72.
