Inpatient care shall be:
(1) Available for:
- (A) Pain control;
- (B) Symptom management; and
- (C) Respite purposes; and
(2) Provided in licensed facilities, as stated below:
(A) Inpatient care for symptom control.
(i) Inpatient care for pain control and symptom management shall be provided in one (1) of the following:
- (a) (a) A hospice that meets the requirements for providing inpatient care directly as specified in 20 CAR § 47-121, inpatient direct care.; or
- (b) (b) A hospital or a skilled nursing facility (SNF);
- (ii) Each shift shall include a registered nurse onsite to supervise and provide direct patient care; and
(B) Inpatient care for respite purposes. Inpatient care for respite purposes shall be provided by one (1) of the following:
- (i) A hospice that meets the requirements for providing inpatient care directly as specified in 20 CAR § 47-121, inpatient direct care; or
- (ii) A hospital, skilled nursing facility (SNF), or nursing facility.
