2 CAR § 24-204 – Fry production — Golden shiners and goldfish

(a) No uncertified broodstock can be used, an existing requirement of the certification program.
(b) Broodstock must be inspected for Gambusia.
(c) Broodstock cannot be used if Gambusia are present.
(d) Gambusia-free broodstock can be hand-selected from mixed fish populations.
(e) When fish are hatched in tanks, egg mats must be thoroughly disinfected by treatments with fifty to one hundred parts per million (50-100 ppm) iodine or five hundred to one thousand parts per million (500-1000 ppm) formalin prior to hatch and fry transfer.
