1. (a)

   1. (1) Annually, the Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology will select licensees for audit.

   2. (2) During an audit, the board may request verification of CPEs submitted, including information regarding:

      1. (A) Date;
      2. (B) Content;
      3. (C) Attendance; and
      4. (D) Number of hours.
   3. (3) It is the responsibility of the licensee to maintain records to substantiate compliance.
   4. (4) The board shall be the final authority on acceptance of any educational activity submitted by the licensee to meet requirements.
   5. (5) Failure to substantiate continuing professional education hours, when audited, may result in disciplinary action.

   6. (6) Documentation may include, but is not limited to the following:

      1. (A) Program notes, outlines, or hand-outs;
      2. (B) Independent study notes on the self-study report;
      3. (C) Transcripts from college/university courses; and
      4. (D) Certificates of attendance, including registry transcripts or CE tally sheets.

2. (b)

   1. (1) Provisional and full licensees:

      1. (A) Are not required to complete a report of continuing professional education; and
      2. (B) Will not be audited during the initial licensing year.
   2. (2) However, a licensee in a clinical fellowship that lasts longer than one (1) year shall submit a continuing professional education report that documents a minimum of ten (10) hours for the licensing period that follows that first year.
   3. (3) There is no exemption for the year in which the provisional license is converted to a full license unless it occurs in the initial licensing year.
3. (c) Individuals who have inactive status are not required to submit a CPE report.

4. (d) The board will accept, but not be limited to, the following activities that fall within Content Areas I and II:

   1. (1) Attending scientific or educational:

      1. (A) Lectures;
      2. (B) Workshops;
      3. (C) Webinars;
      4. (D) Seminars;
      5. (E) College courses; or
      6. (F) Online courses;

   2. (2) Independent study of:

      1. (A) Journals;
      2. (B) Books;
      3. (C) Videotapes;
      4. (D) Audiotapes; or
      5. (E) Online courses; and
   3. (3) Any CPE offered through national speech pathology and/or audiology organizations.

Codification Notes: “CPE” means continuing professional education. "CE" means continuing education.
