(a)

1. (1) In order to provide a safe pain program, the scope and intensity of medical services should relate to the medical care needs of the person served.
2. (2) The treating physician of the patient should be available for medical services.

(b)

1. (1) Services for the patient in a chronic pain management program can be provided by a coordinated interdisciplinary team of professionals other than physicians.

2. (2) The members of the core team, though each may not serve every person, should include:

   1. (A) A physician;
   2. (B) A clinical psychologist or psychiatrist;
   3. (C) An occupational therapist;
   4. (D) A physical therapist; and
   5. (E) A rehabilitation nurse.
