Qualifications:

1. (1) In order to be certified as a medication assistant-certified, an applicant shall submit to the Arkansas State Board of Nursing written evidence, verified by oath, that the applicant:

   1. (A) Is currently listed in good standing on the state’s certified nurse aide registry;
   2. (B) Has maintained registration on the state’s certified nurse aide registry continuously for a minimum of one (1) year;
   3. (C) Has completed at least one (1) continuous year of full-time experience as a certified nurse aide in this state;
   4. (D) Is currently employed at a designated facility;
   5. (E) Has a high school diploma or the equivalent;
   6. (F) Has successfully completed a literacy and reading comprehension screening process approved by the board;
   7. (G) Has successfully completed a medication assistant-certified training course approved by the board; and
   8. (H) Has successfully passed a board-approved certification examination on subjects the board determines; or
2. (2) Has completed a portion of a nursing education program equivalent to the medication assistant person training course and passed the board’s medication assistant certification; and
3. (3) Has been issued a valid United States Social Security number or has been issued a federal Form I-766 United States Citizenship and Immigration Services-issued Employment Authorization Document.
