- (a) Any licensee in good standing who desires to retire for any length of time from the practice of nursing in this state shall submit a request, and the current license shall be placed on retired status.
(b) While retired, the licensee shall not practice nursing, however:
- (1) A registered nurse with a retired license status may use the title “registered nurse” or the abbreviation “RN”;
- (2) A practical nurse with a retired license status may use the title “licensed practical nurse” or the abbreviation “LPN”;
- (3) A psychiatric technician nurse with a retired license status may use the title “licensed psychiatric technician nurse” or the abbreviation “LPTN”; and
- (4) An advanced practice registered nurse with a retired license status may use the title “advanced practice registered nurse” or the abbreviation “APRN”.
(c) When the licensee desires to resume practice, he or she shall:
- (1) Submit a reinstatement application; and
- (2) Meet the continuing education requirements.
- (d) When disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against a retired licensee, the license shall not be reinstated until the proceedings have been completed.
