Doctors shall:
(1) At least two (2) hours, but not more than up to seven (7) hours prior to the scheduled start of the first bout for each event to which they are assigned or are otherwise participating, administer a prefight physical for each contestant, which physical consists of the following:
- (A) Review of contestants’ answers to medical questions on the prefight commission forms;
- (B) Visually testing and observation for contagious or potentially contagious skin, eye, ear, nose, or throat-borne infections, contagions, or other diseases including, without limitation, those associated with the scientific family staphylococci or any form of conjunctivitis or trachoma, any of which, in the doctor’s sole opinion, represent a health risk to the contestant or contestant’s opponent or may be transmitted or worsened through participation in an event;
- (C) Blood pressure and pulse;
- (D) Visual observation of head, eyes with a focus on proper dilation and movement, ears, nose, and throat;
- (E) Audible observation of lungs and heartbeat; and
- (F) Physical examination of abdomen and orthopedic focusing on joints;
- (2) Record the results of each contestant’s prefight physical on a form provided by the commission and sign an attestation that such contestant is in satisfactory physical condition to compete in the event or if contestant is unfit to compete in the event, prohibit the contestant from competing and notify the inspector and commission of the condition or conditions preventing the contestant from competing in the event;
- (3) Sit near the entrance to the ring or cage and not leave ringside after the beginning of the first bout, except during intermissions, until after checking the last contestant following the announcement of the decision in the final bout of an event;
- (4) Immediately enter the ring or cage and attend to any contestant who loses by knockout or technical knockout;
- (5) Enter the ring or cage and make a recommendation to the referee as to a contestant’s fitness to continue upon referee’s request for such opinion;
- (6) Perform postbout medical evaluations of all contestants and complete the commission-provided forms for the postbout evaluations;
- (7) Conduct a postbout examination including a recommendation for rest periods and medical disqualifications exceeding the mandatory suspensions provided for by this part, if deemed necessary; and
- (8) Following each postbout examination or at any time during an event, express their professional medical opinion as to whether a contestant should go to a hospital for further treatment or observation and if so recommended, direct the onsite emergency medical personnel to immediately perform such transport.
