- (a) The practice of alcohol and drug abuse counseling consists of the activities listed below.
- (b) The practice of these activities will conform to the individual’s level of training, education, and supervised experience.
(c) Clinical evaluation of drug and alcohol issues:
- (1) Screening of alcohol and drug problems;
- (2) Assessment of alcohol and drug problems;
- (3) Screening for the presence of other psychiatric disorders; and
- (4) Diagnosis of alcohol and drug problems.
(d) Treatment planning:
- (1) Case management;
- (2) Implementing the treatment plan;
- (3) Consulting;
- (4) Continuing assessment and treatment planning;
- (5) Referral;
- (6) Cultural diversity; and
- (7) Patient advocacy.
(e) Counseling:
- (1) Individual counseling;
- (2) Group counseling; and
- (3) Family counseling.
(f) Education and prevention:
- (1) Patient;
- (2) Family; and
- (3) Community.
- (g) Documentation.
- (h) Professional and ethical standards.
