(a) Different approaches.

1. (1) Counselors are respectful of approaches to professional counseling that differ from their own.
2. (2) Counselors know and take into account the traditions and practices of other professional groups with which they work.

(b) Personal public statements.

1. (1) When making personal statements in a public context, counselors clarify that they:

   1. (A) Are speaking from their personal perspectives; and
   2. (B) Are not speaking on behalf of all counselors or the profession.

(c) Clients served by others.

1. (1) When counselors learn that their clients are in a professional relationship with another mental health professional, they request a release from the clients to inform the other professionals and strive to establish positive and collaborative professional relationships.
