(a) Nondiscrimination.

1. (1) Counselors do not condone or engage in discrimination based on:

   1. (A) Age;
   2. (B) Color;
   3. (C) Culture;
   4. (D) Disability;
   5. (E) Ethnic group;
   6. (F) Gender;
   7. (G) Race;
   8. (H) Religion;
   9. (I) Sexual orientation;
   10. (J) Marital status; or
   11. (K) Socioeconomic status.

(b) Respecting differences.

1. (1) Counselors will actively attempt to understand the diverse cultural backgrounds of the clients with whom they work.
2. (2) This includes, but is not limited to, learning how the counselor’s own cultural/ethnic/racial identity impacts his or her values and beliefs about the counseling process.
