1. (a) Deposits of mutual aid associations, heretofore or hereafter made with the State Treasurer under Section 27-30-18 or under laws heretofore in force, shall be administered as provided by, be subject to withdrawal and release, and otherwise be subject to the applicable provisions of Chapter 6 of this title, other than the following sections:

   1. (1) Section 27-6-2; and
   2. (2) Section 27-6-13.
2. (b) A mutual aid association shall be deemed to be an “insurer” for the purposes and within the terms of Chapter 6 of this title.
