For the purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the respective meanings ascribed by this section, except when the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

1. (1) DEPARTMENT. The State Department of Education.
2. (2) SCHOOL. The Alabama High School of Mathematics and Science.
3. (3) STATE BOARD. The State Board of Education.
4. (4) STATE SUPERINTENDENT. The State Superintendent of Education.
