The following provisions shall be applied wherever appropriate herein:

1. (1) “Herein,” “hereby,” “hereunder,” “hereof,” and other equivalent words refer to this article as an entirety and not solely to the particular section or portion thereof in which any such word is used.
2. (2) The definitions set forth in Section 11-54-171 shall be deemed to include both singular and plural and to cover all genders.
