Ala. Admin. Code r. 950-1-13-.04 – Training And Staff Development

(1) The short-term detention facility provides that all new employees who provide direct care receive twenty-four hours orientation Training prior to undertaking their assignments. This Training includes at a minimum: (MANDATORY)
1. (a) orientation to the purpose, goals, policies, and procedures of the Facility
2. (b) working conditions and regulations
3. (c) employee rights and responsibility
4. (d) CPR and First Aide
5. (e) signs of suicide risk
6. (f) suicide precautions
7. (g) fire and emergency procedures
8. (h) severe weather emergency procedures
9. (i) medical emergency procedures
(2) The short-term detention facility provides that all administrative and managerial personnel receive forty hours Training each year that includes:
1. (a) general management
2. (b) labor law
3. (c) staff/management relations
4. (d) the Juvenile Justice System
5. (e) relationships with other service agencies
(3) The short-term detention facility provides that all new juvenile careworkers receive additional forty hours Training for full-time employees and twenty hours Training for part-time employees during their first year of employment and each year thereafter which covers at a minimum the following: (MANDATORY)
1. (a) CPR (each year)
2. (b) first aid (every three years)
3. (c) security procedures
4. (d) supervision of juveniles
5. (e) use-of-force regulations and tactics
6. (f) report writing
7. (g) juvenile rules and regulations
8. (h) rights and responsibilities of juveniles
9. (i) key control
10. (j) signs of suicide
11. (k) all emergency procedures
(4) All volunteers receive formal orientation appropriate to their assignments and additional Training as needed.
