Applicants to take the standard examination given by the Board may be issued a temporary license once all prerequisites to taking said examination are fulfilled to the satisfaction of the Board. Such temporary licenses shall be valid from the date of issue until August 31 of the year of issue but in no case shall they be valid for a time longer than three months. Temporary licenses shall not be approved to use pharmaceutical agents for the treatment of disease of the eye and its adjacent structures. Temporary licenses may only be issued to optometrists who have never been previously licensed to practice optometry in any state in the United States. Applicants to take the examination under reciprocity shall not be eligible for a temporary license.
