- (1) The REH shall have an organized nursing service that provides 24-hour nursing services that meets the needs of the patients. The nursing services shall be furnished and supervised by an RN. An RN, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or LPN must be on duty whenever the REH has one or more patients receiving emergency care or observation care.
- (2) Patient care responsibilities must be delineated for all nursing service personnel. Nursing services must be provided in accordance with recognized standards of practice.
- (3) The director of the nursing service must be a licensed RN by the Alabama Board of Nursing. The individual is responsible for the operation of the service, including determining the types and numbers of nursing personnel and staff necessary to provide nursing care for all areas of the REH.
