1. (1) Requirements.

   1. (a) The candidate must be a Certified Rescue Technician: Rope I or certified to the Technical Rescue Personnel: Rope Rescue Awareness and Operations Levels.
   2. (b) The candidate must be a Certified Rescue Technician: Wilderness Rescue I or certified to the Technical Rescue Personnel: Wilderness Search and Rescue Awareness and Operations Levels.

   3. (c) Examination. There will be an examination for state certification provided by the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards and Education Commission.

      1. 1. An overall score of 70% is required for the successful completion of this examination.
      2. 2. Re-test may be taken within 12 months of the date of the original examination for state certification.
      3. 3. All certification testing, to include re-testing, must be completed within 12 months of the course completion date.

2. (2) Administration.

   1. (a) Scope. This standard identifies the level of professional competence required of the Technical Rescue Personnel: Wilderness Search and Rescue Technician Level.
   2. (b) Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to specify, in terms of performance objectives, the minimum requirements of competence required for service at the Technical Rescue Personnel: Wilderness Search and Rescue Technician Level. It is not the intent of this standard to restrict any jurisdiction from exceeding these minimum requirements.

   3. (c) General.

      1. 1. The candidate shall meet all of the requirements of this standard before being certified at the Technical Rescue Personnel: Wilderness Search and Rescue Technician Level.
      2. 2. Each performance objective for Technical Rescue Personnel: Wilderness Search and Rescue Technician Level shall be performed swiftly, safely, and with competence. Each objective shall be met in its entirety.
      3. 3. It is not required that the objectives be mastered in the order they appear.

3. (3) Objectives.

   1. (a) The objectives of this standard are based on the ability of the Technical Rescue Personnel: Wilderness Search and Rescue Technician Level to demonstrate knowledge and skills as outlined in the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards and Education Commission Teaching Outline for Technical Rescue Personnel: Wilderness Search and Rescue Technician Level, current edition.
