(1) Requirements.
- (a) The candidate must be a Certified Rescue Technician: Rope Rescue II or Certified to the Technical Rescue Personnel: Rope Rescue Awareness and Operations Levels.
- (b) The candidate must be a Certified Rescue Technician: Surface Water I/II or Certified to the Technical Rescue Personnel: Surface Water Rescue Awareness and Operations Levels.
- (c) The candidate must be Certified to the Technical Rescue Personnel: Swiftwater Awareness Level.
(d) Examination. There will be an examination for state certification for each level of progression provided by the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards and Education Commission.
- 1. An overall score of 70% is required for the successful completion of this examination.
- 2. Re-test may be taken after 30 days and within 12 months of course completion.
- 3. All certification testing, to include re-testing, must be completed within 12 months of the course completion date.
(2) Administration.
- (a) Scope. This standard identifies the professional levels of competence required of the Technical Rescue Personnel: Swiftwater Rescue Operations Level.
- (b) Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to specify, in terms of performance objectives, the minimum requirements of professional competence required for service at the Technical Rescue Personnel: Swiftwater Rescue Operations Level. It is not the intent of this standard to restrict any jurisdiction from exceeding these minimum requirements.
(c) General.
- 1. The candidate shall meet all of the requirements for this standard before being certified as Technical Rescue Personnel: Swiftwater Rescue Operations Level.
- 2. Each performance objective for the Technical Rescue Personnel: Swiftwater Rescue Operations Level shall be performed swiftly, safely, and with competence. Each objective shall be met in its entirety.
- 3. It is not required for the objectives to be mastered in the order they appear.
(3) Objectives.
- (a) The objectives of this standard are based on the ability of the Technical Rescue Personnel: Swiftwater Rescue Operations Level to demonstrate knowledge and skills as outlined in the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards and Education Commission Teaching Outline for Technical Rescue Personnel: Swiftwater Rescue Operations Level, current edition.
