- (1) A license may be issued based on reciprocity to any applicant holding a current and active license in another state recognized by this Board as a reciprocity state, who has no findings of disciplinary actions taken by the reciprocal state, and is requesting a comparable classification from this Board as is held in the reciprocal state. If a license is issued based on reciprocity, the applicant may have the trade portion of the examination waived upon written certification from the state in which the applicant is licensed. The proposed qualified individual for licensing application shall be the same individual who is duly qualified for the license currently issued to the applicant by the reciprocal state licensing board. Applicants for licensing based on reciprocity must comply with all other Alabama licensing requirements.
(2) Licensing classifications and states recognized for reciprocity:
- (a) Burglar Alarm, Electronic Access Control, and/or CCTV are approved for reciprocity with Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
(b) Burglar Alarm only is approved for reciprocity with South Carolina.
(3)General information:
- (a) Applicants for licensing reciprocity from South Carolina must also submit forms, two (2) fingerprint cards, and fees for a state and federal background check that will be processed by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
- (b) Licensing reciprocity only applies to first-time applicants with the Alabama Electronic Security Board of Licensure.
- (c) All reciprocal licensees who continue to work in the State of Alabama in their licensed capacity, or those who re-apply for licensing with a different company, shall submit for renewal with the required number of continuing education credits and forms, fingerprint cards, licensing fees, and fees for a state and federal background check.
