The parties may request that appeal or petition for review proceedings be stayed pending mediation, settlement negotiations, or board approval of a settlement between the parties by filing a stipulation signed by the parties that states the reasons the proceedings should be stayed and the requested length of the stay. If a stay of proceedings is granted, the commission may order the parties to file status reports to advise the commission on the progress of mediation, settlement negotiations, or board approval of a settlement.
