- (a) Staff may not require a resident to work, whether within or outside the facility, with or without compensation, except that a resident may be required to perform chores reasonably related to grounds maintenance, housekeeping, food service, and personal hygiene.
- (b) Residents may work within the facility for compensation.
- (c) Residents may, with permission of the superintendent, work as employees outside the institution for a public or private employer for regular wages. Employment of residents outside the facility must be in compliance with local, state, and federal child labor and minimum wage laws.
- (d) Resident earnings from employment within or outside the facility shall be deposited in the resident's account, and the resident shall be given a receipt.
- (e) Staff shall encourage residents to do volunteer work and community work service.
