- (a) A juvenile facility shall issue to each resident items necessary to maintain cleanliness, including a towel, washcloth, toothbrush and comb. Drinking water and toilet facilities must be available to residents at all times. The facility shall provide haircuts on a regularly scheduled basis. Shower and bathing facilities must be available at least two times weekly, unless ordered otherwise by the facility physician.
- (b) The superintendent shall ensure that residents who are assigned to work in the kitchen, dining room, or near machinery wear their hair in compliance with public health and safety regulations.
- (c) Residents may adopt any hairstyle or length, if it is kept clean. However, when health-care personnel find that the length or style presents a health or sanitation problem, or the superintendent or superintendent's designee determines that the haircut or style identifies the juvenile as a gang member, the facility may require the resident to trim or cut the resident's hair or wear a hair net or other covering to alleviate the problem.
