(a) An applicant for assistance under AS 47.45.301 - 47.45.309 and 7 AAC 47.547 - 7 AAC 47.599 must
- (1) present to the department the applicant's actual social security card or a photocopy of it;
- (2) submit a written statement giving the applicant's social security number;
- (3) enter the applicant's social security number on the application submitted under 7 AAC 47.555; or
- (4) complete a United States Social Security Administration form applying for a number, and comply with all United States Social Security Administration requirements for completion of the form.
- (b) The department will use an applicant's or recipient's social security number to verify eligibility, including income, in accordance with 42 U.S.C. 405(c)(2)(C) (sec. 205 of the Social Security Act).
- (c) The department will not delay or deny assistance while the United States Social Security Administration processes a social security number application under (a)(4) of this section or while the department verifies a social security number.
- (d) If an applicant fails to provide or apply for a social security number, the department will not provide assistance under AS 47.45.301 - 47.45.309 to that applicant.
