- (a) If a hospital has a critical care service, a physician must have overall responsibility for the medical supervision of it.
- (b) A registered nurse with education and experience in critical care nursing must also be responsible for supervision and operation of the service.
- (c) Written criteria for determining patient admissions and discharge must be approved by the medical staff or, if the hospital has one, the critical care service committee.
- (d) Emergency equipment and supplies, as determined by the medical staff or critical care service committee if the hospital has one, must be readily available.
